Being a good listener is a compliment that I have humbly received from a number of people around me, and is something I hold great pride in. At a young age, I learnt the difference between "hearing" and "listening", the latter being a quality without which a psychologist cannot call themselves a "psychologist". I have seen the value and the power of active listening, and the way it positively impacts, not just the clients in a therapeutic setting, but all of us in our normal everyday lives. As a psychologist, being a good listener is the bare minimum that I will always provide to my clients.
