Tammy Otsuka

I have over two years of experience volunteering with a suicide and crisis support line in Japan, providing emotional support through chat and phone for individuals in distress. My approach is grounded in person-centered principles inspired by Carl Rogers, focusing on empathy, active listening, and creating a safe, non-judgmental space. I have experience supporting individuals through crisis situations, including emotional distress, anxiety, and overwhelming life challenges. I work with a diverse range of English-speaking individuals in Japan, from young adults to older adults, and can help with emotional support, stress management, and navigating difficult moments. I also assist in identifying helpful resources and next steps when additional support may be needed.
