I volunteer as a listener at Certified Listener where I offer a safe and non-judgmental space for people to share what they’re going through. A big part of my role is simply being present like really listening without interrupting or trying to fix things right away. Sometimes people just need someone to hear them out and I try to be that person. Through this, I’ve learned how to be more patient, empathetic and understanding of different perspectives. Every conversation is different and it’s taught me how to respond thoughtfully and support others in a way that feels genuine and respectful. It’s not always easy but it’s definitely meaningful work.
