As a empathetic listener, I offer good transparent communication skills, and developed these skills through my role as a peer mentor in which I would give advice to students that would be about campus living or academics, which thoroughly developed my communication skills. In addition to this, I am also working with Nightline at my University where I am a volunteering lead which means I provide guidance, support to listening volunteers. This developed my active listening skills and ability to give good advice to students. Lastly, I also joined as a companion call volunteer with Alzheimer’s society, where I would provide people with dementia with that extra support or companionship they may need, this also strengthened my understanding of people with dementia.
